Guitar Diary

Profile

My Guitar Diary is an ambient music project known for its evocative soundscapes and emotional depth. The Guitar Diary harnesses the power of sound and effect pedals to craft immersive audio experiences that resonate with the full spectrum of human emotions. From the gentle whispers of sadness to the soaring heights of happiness, Guitar Diary's compositions are a journey through the complexities of the human mind.

To describe the musical style and influences the Guitar Diary's sound is characterized by lush, layered guitars and an extensive use of effects pedals. Each track is meticulously crafted to evoke specific emotions, often blending organic guitar tones with ethereal electronic textures. The band's influences range from the pioneering ambient works of Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois (just to mention a few) to the cinematic post-rock of bands like Explosions in the Sky and God Is An Astronaut. My biggest influencer for style of thinking, playing and arranging Mark Knopfler. My valuable guidance in the studies of mixing and how to make peace in the frequency war room and to achieve any result in music productions - my mixing mentor Luke is found in Delay Haus

How it all started

"There was a boy, at the age of 10, who was eager for Christmas Eve to come. He had discovered that under Grandma's bed was a huge, wrapped box with the size of a guitar. Every night he had a good reason to visit Grandma just to make sure the box was still there. Christmas Eve came and there it was - an electric guitar, the Picador with 2 pickups and tremolo arm (later I was told that it cost 465 SEK, about 45 dollar). Maybe this was not the best of craftsmanship but that boy couldn't be happier!"

As you already might have found out - that boy was me! Most money I had after that day was spent on guitar effects - first the Ross Distortion! I was completely captivated by the sound and the options to tweak the character of the guitar! I still love to experiment with the sounds in different ways - the size of my pedal board is therefore bigger and bigger for each year :-)

There is a meditative peculiarity in these effects that may picture sadness, happiness or any human mental feeling. Some years ago I decided to start creating some pieces and record them in my modest home studio north of Stockholm. I put my plans into action, created a space of my own on Spotify calling it "Guitar Diary". I now hope you enjoy the textures and atmospheric sounds of these musical pieces I've put together.

Equipment

The heart of Guitar Diary's sound lies in their innovative use of sound and effect pedals. These tools allow the band to manipulate the guitar's natural tones, creating a wide range of textures and atmospheres. Commonly used pedals include reverb, delay and modulation effects, which are layered to build complex soundscapes that mirror the human emotional experience.
